Located in the Far Northeast Heights of Albuquerque, New Mexico, The Terraces is a 74-home "pocket subdivision" of Mediterranean-style patio homes. There are no through streets, which lends to a quieter, safer neighborhood. Construction was begun in 1987 and completed by about 1994 with several of the original residents still living in The Terraces.
There is easy access to beautiful Tramway Boulevard, road bike and mountain bike trails, the Sandia Mountain Wilderness, Georgia O'Keefe Elementary School, Eisenhower Middle School, two city bus routes, shopping, and much more.
The mature xeric landscaping and small lawns encourage several species of birds which are a delight to the neighborhood -- robins, finches, scrub jays, mourning doves, white-wing doves, and black-chinned hummingbirds to name a few. Typically, in July those little dive bombers, migrate through on their way back to Mexico. Don't be surprised if you also see broadtailed hummingbirds with their bright rose-red throat; or even a calliope hummingbird passing through to their winter home in Mexico. And, on occasion a sharp-shinned hawk has been spotted cruising through on the hunt.
